A Miracle In The Making

April

Pros: Being one of the first guests to board the AMA Magdelena from Barranquilla to Cartagena in Colombia is truly a miracle in the making.

Cons: I enjoyed 3 dinners and 3 lunches out of 7. They will need to upgrade that so the meals match the miracle in the making. ast was delicious.

Recommended: Yes

The whole trip began in Medellin and our tour leader, Juan David, was amazing as were the people that popped in and out of the daily tours. We started with two days in Medellin downtown area at the Marriott Hotel which was a great location, great staff and excellent food. We flew to Barranquilla and boarded the ship with now many people we connected with in Medellin. The staff could not be more helpful putting in every possible opportunity to make things work at every step. The ship was superb and like everything new there are things that need attention to work optimally. The crew knew what to do and di it quickly and thoroughly. Pioneering a new route with new docks built along the way is a huge investment for AMA Waterways which will take years to recover their investment which is a testament to their resilience. The villages, their people and the wildlife made the whole trip remarkable.

Good Food

April

Pros: many varied salads and soups as well as vegetarian options. Inrersting Columbian dishes.

Cons: A bit too much river cruising and not enough shore visits.

Recommended: Yes

I was on the second trip so there were a few rough edges as the crew got up to speed.
